Overview

The Manager of Application Development is responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of software applications to support the firm's business operations. This role leads a team of developers, collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements, and ensures the successful delivery of high-quality applications used by attorneys and business support departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of application developers, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback
  • Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements for software application
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications using programming languages and development frameworks
  • Ensure the security, scalability, and performance of applications through proper coding practices and adherence to best practices
  • Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of existing applications, troubleshooting issues and implementing updates as needed
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate applications with other systems and platforms
  • Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance of applications to ensure functionality and user satisfaction
  • Manage the application development lifecycle, including project planning, resource allocation, and timeline management
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users as needed
  • Collaborate with IT leadership to define and implement application development strategies and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as Java, C#, Python, etc.
  • Experience with web development frameworks
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices
  • Knowledge of database management systems, such as SQL Server or Oracle 
  • Familiarity with front-end development technologies
  • Excellent leadership and team/personnel management skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

Compensation and Total Rewards Package

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

 

  • Boston: $142,500 - $228,050
  • New York: $149,300 - 238,900

Working Conditions

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
