Overview

The Pricing Operations Analyst plays a critical role in the key areas of billing, alternative fee arrangements, and system administration.  This position coordinates the functions around setting up and maintaining pricing-related data, specifically around alternative fee arrangements (AFAs), including rates and various complex discounting.  This critical role supports the timely flow of billing rate information to our billing team, including electronic billing team members to facilitate timely submission of invoices.  The role will also have the opportunity to work with external clients.

 

 

Responsibilities

The role will require support team partnering, problem solving and analytical acumen, in addition to hands-on reporting and analysis.  The role will have exposure to the senior finance management, certain business and functional leaders, with some Partner interaction. The Pricing Operations Analyst role has a direct impact to the firm’s overall bottom line.  The position will own or contribute to the financial functions included below:

 

  • Troubleshoot fee execution issues through thoughtful data analysis and understanding of firm systems.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients on execution of fee agreements to meet multiple team goals.
  • Understand alternative fee arrangement types and systems to advise and maintain best practices of executing agreed upon AFAs.
  • Administration of approved alternative fee arrangements in our accounting system (3E) to ensure accurate and timely billing while meeting firm standards.
  • Monitoring and triaging incoming requests and questions from centralized team mailbox.
  • Design, build, and implement tools and process to better control and maintenance of AFAs.
  • Review new matter openings and ensure approved pricing is applied in accounting system timely and accurately.
  • Analyze firm portfolio of AFAs to drive decisions on firm approval of AFAs.
  • Advise on opportunities to improve data and processes to reduce configuration time and prevent fee losses.
  • Assist with the yearly price renewal process by reviewing current AFAs and auditing terms for accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance or business administration.
  • Experience with financial database software, particularly those used in the professional services industry is required.  Knowledge of 3e a plus.
  • Must have two or more years of experience with working with sensitive financial data and reporting within a law firm or service industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise with MS Excel, including advanced features such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP functionality, filtering, graphs and advanced formulas.
  • Demonstrated excellence in both written and verbal communication skills is required
  • Superior customer service focus and a demonstrated ability to work in challenging, time-sensitive and dynamic environment
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to a proactive, collaborative environment
  • Experience and interest in extracting and reporting of data using standard query language (SQL) is highly desired
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Requires a strong work ethic; ability to quickly adapt to shifting priorities, capable of carrying out routine, everyday tasks with limited direction/supervision
  • Ability to work outside of established business hours and adjust personal schedule to meet deadlines is required

 

Compensation and Total Rewards Package

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

 

  • Boston: $70,500 - $107,550
  • New York: $73,900 - $112,650

 

Working Conditions

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
