Overview

Reporting to the Credit Control Team Lead, the Senior Credit Control Coordinator will have critical responsibilities related to the collection of the Firm’s accounts receivable portfolio.  The scope of the role requires strong skills in hands-on collections, decision making, relationship building, and communication.

Responsibilities

  1. Manage the collection process for a select portfolio of high-profile lawyers/clients including detailed knowledge of applicable client terms, discount arrangements and lawyer and client preferences. Ensure those receivables are collected in a timely manner. Routinely communicate with attorneys, provide periodic updates and reports, and escalate potential issues to Firm management.
  2. Ensure E-billing issues are identified and promptly resolved, including addressing rejected and reduced invoices.
  3. Identify client account balances that may be at particular risk and resolve these balances or escalate them to management.
  4. Assist with the mentoring and training of Finance personnel, new Credit Control Coordinators in particular, on Finance’s policies and procedures related to collections, cash application and software.
  5. Work with clients, Revenue Specialists, and Billing to resolve unapplied/suspense cash items. Assist Revenue Specialists when payment remittance advice is missing or insufficient.
  6. Prepare monthly reports on top inventory items and present findings to management in monthly meetings.
  7. Respond to inquiries from clients, lawyers and secretaries related to receivables levels and cash receipts.
  8. Coordinate write-offs of aged or otherwise uncollectible invoices. Make recommendations for write-offs of aged balances where appropriate.
  9. Update Pricing team of any newly discovered alternative fee arrangements for review and ultimate disposition.
  10. Facilitate accuracy in year-end cash targets/forecast by communicating with lawyers and Finance personnel.
  11. Support client and partner requests for accrual information that is timely and accurate.
  12. Participates in firm-wide and departmental projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in Business, Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum five years experience with professional services time and billing software such as Elite or Aderant.
  • Minimum five years experience with professional services inventory management software, such as ARCS from Minisoft or *Collect from Select Associates.
  • Minimum five years experience in a professional services environment (legal, accounting, consulting, engineering, etc) working in a Finance department collections role.
  • Advanced skills with MS Excel spreadsheets, including features such as pivot tables, charts and graphs and formulas.
  • Excellent verbal, written, negotiation and interpersonal skills.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

 

  • Boston: $70,500 - $107,550
