Overview

The Senior Manager of Data Products is a strategic leader responsible for shaping, influencing, and delivering enterprise-wide data assets that drive business operations, strategic initiatives, and self-service analytics. This role serves as a key bridge between enterprise data strategy and operational execution, ensuring that the data product team delivers high-impact solutions aligned with business priorities

The Senior Manager demonstrates an ownership mentality and leads with accountability, driving transformational project outcomes and fostering a culture of excellence, strategic thinking, and proactive planning. This leader maintains visibility across all initiatives, optimizes resource usage, and develops a deep understanding of the business to align efforts accordingly. The Senior Manager mentors and develops future leaders, empowering a high-performing team of analytics engineers and developers while influencing cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact, scalable solutions aligned with business priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the design, implementation, and evolution of enterprise data products, including curated datasets, semantic layers, and stewardship tools that support trusted data use across the organization.
  • Own and communicate a multi-year data product vision and roadmap in partnership with executive stakeholders, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and processes.
  • Establish and manage transparent intake and prioritization processes for data product requests, proactively balancing scope, resources, and timelines across multiple teams.
  • Drive effective project execution and triage, ensuring timely resolution of blockers, consistent follow-through, and successful delivery of data solutions at scale.
  • Champion modern data development practices (e.g., dbt, CI/CD, version control, metadata-driven pipelines) to increase efficiency, quality, and adoption of data products.
  • Promote and enforce strong adherence to data governance principles, including definitions, quality standards, and lineage tracking, across the enterprise.
  • Cultivate a culture of critical thinking, realistic planning, and risk-awareness, enabling teams to anticipate challenges and adapt effectively.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop future leaders by investing in their growth, encouraging ownership, and providing opportunities for leadership and development across teams.
  • Escalate resource constraints or competing priorities early, and strategically manage time, talent, and tooling to maintain momentum and quality across the enterprise.
  • Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of data products and governance practices throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate continuously with governance, BI, and data infrastructure teams to improve discoverability, usability, and trust in enterprise data products.
  • Present and communicate data product strategy, progress, and impact to executive leadership and other senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in data analytics, data modeling, or business intelligence environments.
  • 6+ years of experience in a management or team lead role with demonstrated ownership of data products or platforms, including cross-functional leadership.
  • Proven track record of delivering scalable data products in both on-prem and cloud-based environments, with enterprise-level impact.
  • Hands-on expertise in SQL, dbt, and analytics tooling; experience with agile methodologies and product lifecycle management.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with experience aligning technical work with strategic business objectives and presenting to executive leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across teams and initiatives with a proactive, organized, and strategic approach.

Compensation and Total Rewards Package

Ropes & Gray is proud to offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package to our business support team members. The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

 

  • Boston: $171,100 - $273,600

Working Conditions

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
