Overview

The Manager of Attorney Talent Operations works closely with the Directors of Attorney Talent Operations to provide critical support for all new lawyers in the firm as well as their colleagues within Attorney Talent.  Working in a fast-paced environment, the Manager of Attorney Talent Operations will oversee key transitions during an attorney’s career at the firm as well as support attorney development, legal recruiting, and other programs and initiatives that help create an environment in which our attorneys can best grow, develop and support the partnership.  This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about onboarding, integration, and the professional development and training of attorney talent professionals.

Responsibilities

The incumbent will support the following functions in a collaborative team-based environment:

  1. Onboarding and integration of summer and entry level associates. Coordination with entry level recruiting across US and Asia. Implementation of incremental improvements through change management.
  2. Coordination of universal aspects of the summer program, including scheduling firm-wide meetings, producing the summer “face-book” and handbook. Facilitates summer associate reviews and provides support for staffing summer associates with work assignments.
  3. Supports the Chief of Attorney Talent and the Department by planning and /or presenting at department-wide meetings; drafting, preparing and arranging for internal trainings, meetings and retreats for the entire Attorney Talent department, and also specific cohorts within Attorney Talent, such as the Attorney Development Lunch & Learn series and Attorney Talent non-manager training curriculum. Regularly provides training, mentoring and when called upon, managerial supervision of junior team members. Brings thoughtfulness, creativity and fresh ideas to initiatives that support a close team environment and maintain team morale.
  4. Supports colleagues across Attorney Talent in process documentation and improvement and succession planning. Understands each sub-group’s contributions to the Attorney Talent mission and works to bridge silos. Supports the onboarding and integration process of new Attorney Talent hires and oversees updates to the Attorney Talent process manual and Infonet site.
  5. Provide project management and operational support for special projects within the Attorney Talent Department which may fall into areas such as non-partner compensation, employee relations, documentation of best practices, retention tools, survey responses, meeting and event planning, presentations, budgeting, personnel file management, mobility, secondments, departures, licensing, onboarding, special recruiting initiatives, and database building.

Qualifications

  • Experience (6+ years) in human resources or attorney talent organization, particularly within professional development.
  • Driven by crisp execution: organization, thoroughness, and a “checklist” mentality with the ability to keep an eye on the big picture at all times.
  • Strong and succinct communication and presentation skills, particularly in writing and through PowerPoint and Canva.
  • Ability to work in Excel.
  • Demonstrates respect for and discretion with confidential information.
  • Strong processing and analytical skills; ability to anticipate problems and issues and propose practical solutions informed by sound judgment.
  • Flexibility to respond quickly and positively to competing and shifting demands, often with tight turnarounds.
  • Ability to command the respect of the attorneys with quiet confidence.
  • Experience or familiarity with recruiting systems and/or staffing a plus.

Compensation and Total Rewards Package

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

 

Boston: $123,200 - $187,950

Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Incumbent is expected to work on-site in the Boston office consistent with the in office policies, which currently is in office four days per week (currently Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and remote on Fridays and to work the hours necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
