Overview

Under the direction of the Senior Manager/Manager of Legal Technology, the Legal Technology Specialist is responsible for all standard processes handled by the Legal Technology Department.  This hands-on position requires basic facility with databases and computer technology used in all aspects of litigation/legal technology support.  The Legal Technology Specialist will work independently on small matters or assist senior team members to support the firm's clients and case teams. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintain and troubleshoot litigation support software applications, and work with senior team members to determine the most effective way to resolve database issues.
  2. Process native client data into a format that can be loaded into document review software.
  3. Load images and field data into document review software, perform processes to normalize, mass edit or deduplicate data. Overlay existing records in workspace.  Design coding layouts, create fields, and advise case team on database design.  Run search term reports and prepare electronic documents for case team’s review.  Export or produce records in a format that meets the project requested delivery specifications.
  4. Provide case team training and offer hands on support and troubleshooting for the litigation support software applications.
  5. Utilize Relativity, Brainspace, LAW, Microsoft Access, Excel, Adobe, LiveNote, CaseMap, Outlook, Sanction, dtSearch, and text editing and conversion tools.
  6. Perform quality control measures on all processes to ensure incoming and outgoing data files meet project-specific and industry standards.
  7. Create and duplicate various encrypted media formats as needed.
  8. Maintain chain of custody tracking spreadsheets for data received and loaded for each project.
  9. Assist case teams on managing small projects and developing appropriate workflows.
  10. Comply with department and firm administrative procedures and policies.
  11. Assist with department projects as needed and perform other work-related duties as assigned.
  12. Responsible for working on client, firm and department related projects for 1600 hours per year with a minimum of 1500 hours billed to client-related work.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree. Educational background in information technology or a related field a plus. 
  • Prior legal experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with standard litigation support and e-discovery software such as Relativity, Brainspace, LAW, Microsoft Access, Excel, Adobe, LiveNote, CaseMap, Outlook, Sanction, dtSearch, and text editing and conversion tools.
  • Requires solid interpersonal, communication, project management and technology skills.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly organized and a team player.
  • Knowledge of MS Access, Visual Basic, XML or SQL programming a plus.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

 

Boston: $63,700 - $92,350

New York City: $66,700 - $96,700

Working Conditions

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
