Overview

 

The Senior Research Librarian will provide high-quality, in-depth legal and non-legal research using online and print resources. Liaise with assigned practice area teams by providing key actionable insights that can be used to support better decisions through topic-specific research and analytic results. The Senior Research Librarian will participate in orienting and educating individual attorneys and staff in the use of library resources and procedures. Senior Research Librarians are expected to have in-depth knowledge and broad expertise in the firm's areas of practice.

 

The Senior Research Librarian has a direct reporting line to the Senior Manager of Library Operations and Research.

Responsibilities


ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES:

 

• Ability to keep up with new materials, changes in resources and techniques, and shifts in information demands; resourcefulness in obtaining needed materials and information
• Excellent interpersonal, written, presentation and communication skills; willingness and ability to contribute substantively to project teams as well as work alone

• Commitment to providing high-quality library service to a large group of demanding users in a fast-paced global law firm environment
• Must be team-oriented and able to share information, goals, opportunities, successes and failures with the appropriate parties
• Ability to plan, organize and carry out multiple related activities

• Ability to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse environment
• Must pay attention to details and have the ability to follow-up and follow through

 

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• MLS strongly preferred but other graduate degrees that emphasize research and writing, and have relevant content will be considered, such as a J.D. or M.B.A.
• More than 5 years research experience in a law firm or law library
• Advanced online research skills and knowledge of electronic and print law and business resources
• Demonstrated proficiency in technologies used in a professional services environment

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

 

Boston: $101,900 - $155,350 

 

Working Conditions

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
