Overview

The Senior IT Trainer is a dynamic, tech-forward leader responsible for designing and delivering high-impact learning solutions for a global professional services audience. Combining adult learning principles with cutting-edge technology, you will create and lead live and virtual sessions, develop e-learning and other learning content, and champion the adoption of the Firm’s AI tools. Senior IT Trainer serves as a critical bridge between project teams and the firm’s practitioners, advocating for the end user during project development. This role demands a self-starter who can prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced, high-pressure environment and still deliver on time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging live and virtual training sessions for U.S. and International audiences, including comprehensive new hire onboarding, weekly skills-based classes, and bespoke training tailored to specific departments. Manage all aspects of classroom administration and one-on-one coaching.
  • Design high-impact e-learning and support materials using tools like Adobe Captivate and Camtasia.
  • Leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Harvey, Copilot) to create learning content and accelerate the development of "just-in-time" resources. Identify other opportunities to use AI to improve team efficiency.
  • Accelerate user adoption of the Firm’s AI tools. Identify manual, repetitive tasks that can be optimized or automated using AI. Develop talking points on Firm AI tools and when to use each. Create practice exercises for just-in-time learning opportunities.
  • Partner with project teams from initial kick-off through post-project support to ensure new technology initiatives meet practical business needs. Assess impact of technical changes on end users and legal workflows; advocate for user-centric design and customization. Proactively identify potential areas of resistance among learners and develop targeted training interventions  to address concerns.
  • Analyze Help Desk trend data and user feedback to identify pain points, targeting training and curriculum updates toward problem reduction.
  • Proactively promote IT Training services across all offices, building firm-wide awareness of available resources. Proactively prepare users for change by promoting pending projects and updates early in the development cycle.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Ability to understand and embrace the Firms’ culture, philosophy, and values.
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of training experience in a professional services environment. Law firm experience preferred.
  • Exceptional learning agility and a proven record of rapidly mastering and teaching new, complex enterprise software. Knowledge of legal-specific technology (iManange, Intapp, Litera, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve training content creation.
  • A self-starter with exceptional project management skills, ability to effectively estimate development time, prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and deliver upon project commitments in a high-pressure environment.
  • Curious and eager to take on new challenges with a positive attitude and a sincere commitment to provide excellent service to internal and external clients.
  • Mastery of adult learning principles with a focus on translating complex technical jargon into "user-friendly" language.
  • Ability to build credibility with diverse stakeholders, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to a fast-changing culture.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, producing all assigned work while adhering to departmental design standards.
  • Ability and readiness to travel to U.S. and International office locations for periodic site checks or as project demands require.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Work Hours: Workday schedule may vary according to business needs and requires travel to other Ropes & Gray office locations. Incumbent is expected to work the hours necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. This includes hosting virtual training sessions in the evenings (8pm-10pm) and in the early morning (7am-8am) to support night staff, West Coast, and international office needs.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

 

  • Boston, MA ($101,900 - $155,350)

 

Working Conditions

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
