Overview

The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) supports the Business Development Manager (BDM) in developing and executing business development and marketing initiatives designed to generate new business, deepen client relationships, and enhance market visibility for Ropes & Gray’s Litigation & Enforcement Practice Group (LEPG).  

Responsibilities

  • Support the BDM in the development and execution of business development and marketing efforts designed to generate new business and enhance market visibility for LEPG and related initiatives.
  • Cultivate a thorough understanding of LEPG’s business development imperatives, helping to identify, assess, and pursue client opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively and professionally at all levels of the organization, including with attorneys, coworkers, and administrators.
  • Support the BDM in maintaining internal reporting and communication frameworks to track progress and share outcomes, including communicating best-practice business development activities and successes across the group.
  • Help drive the development of existing client relationships in collaboration with the BDM and other business support colleagues, including organizing and supporting business development meetings, tracking client and target development efforts, and conducting business research to stay current on market intelligence in support LEPG’s strategies.
  • Support new business generation by assisting the BDM in project-managing pitches, proposals, and RFPs—ensuring timely completion, document storage, and follow-up actions—including maintaining current pitch content, materials, and client information, participating in scoping and preparation for in-person meetings and pitches, and tracking wins, losses, and follow-up efforts.
  • Support the BDM with the development and execution of events, including webinars, conferences, receptions, roundtables, firesides, and other profile-raising external events. This includes assessing market conference opportunities, providing regular RSVP reports, tracking business development activities in connection with each event, preparing research on expected attendees, and assisting the BDM with related event follow-up and ROI tracking.
  • Collaborate with the BDM, marketing team, and other business support colleagues to identify opportunities to create and implement integrated branding and profile-raising campaigns, and to determine appropriate client and market targets for knowledge-marketing initiatives.
  • Support other daily LEPG, specialty group, and initiative projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in business development within a law firm, professional services, or corporate environment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, work independently, and take initiative.
  • Ability to compile and analyze qualitative and quantitative data from varies sources to draw logical conclusions and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with technology tools, including database, presentation, and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels.
  • Ability to establish credibility with Ropes & Gray attorneys and professional staff, combining confidence, tact, and persistence.

The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the starting salary range at the time of posting. In addition, this role is eligible for a discretionary bonus based on performance. The actual offered rate for this position will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors, including qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.

 

Boston: 52,600 - 76,300

Working Conditions

This position requires hybrid on-site presence as an essential function of the role. Consistent and predictable on-site presence is required for ongoing business continuity, professional development and effective collaboration with colleagues and management.
